DENMARK • As part of its ambitious expansion programme, the inventor of corona and pioneer of surface treatment announced that architects have finished the design of a new building that will effectively double the size of the current headquarters in Kolding. The expansion is due for completion in August 2017.

USA • Huhtamaki has agreed to purchase a manufacturing facility to set up a new manufacturing and distribution unit in Goodyear, Arizona, and is set to service the southwest and west coast foodservice packaging and retail tableware markets.

GERMANY • Henkel will present examples of product innovations and system solutions for adhesives at FachPack from 27-29 September at Hall 1, Stand 1-106. The personalization trend has reached the flexible packaging industry. This brings with it an increased industry interest in digital printing technologies.
For years, the term “printed electronics” has been on everyone’s lips, but it has had little commercial impact on packaging. For some, the opportunities will lie in adding value to packaging for your current customers, but for others printed electronics and functional printing will be the path to finding new markets and applications.
UK • Bobst Manchester announced it will be holding an open house at their Competence Centre in Heywood on 18 October. The event will see the unveiling of the new Bobst K5 Expert, which the company said will be the highest productivity vacuum metallizer in the world.

SAUDI ARABIA • Gulf Carton Factory has had several investments throughout the past several years and has now installed a new Bobst Dro 1628 NT RS among other upgrades. A factory extension, corrugator investments, new logistics, upgrades to pre-press and the installation of three Bobst lines in three years have all seen the company grow.

GERMANY • Feldmuehle will present high-white, matt materials for packaging design at Fachpack (Hall 7A, Stand 336). Feldmuehle Uetersen’s liner, formerly known as Medialiner, will be produced and marketed under the new brand name Vivaliner. The company said the name change does not imply any changes in the quality and the specifications of the liner.

THE NETHERLANDS • Egeria, a private equity firm, has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Group from an affiliate of Warburg Pincus. Completion of the transaction is expected to occur in Q4 2016.
MONOCO • GMG will be presenting its solutions for accurate colours at Luxepack 2016, held on 21–23 September. The company from Tübingen, Germany, has a booth for the first time. Interested visitors can find them in Hall AB 11Bis.
