Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Harlingen wins EFTA Flexographic Award
THE NETHERLANDS • Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Harlingen (CFP Harlingen) won the 2015 award for technical innovation at the prestigious EFTA-Benelux Flexo Awards, which took place in Antwerp, Belgium, in November. The company won the award for its unique Flextreme printing technology used to create the packaging for the Bofrost Suppengemüse brand.
CFP Harlingen was also shortlisted in the flexo wide width category for its Bavarian Radler packaging. One of the other companies in the group, Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Grootegast, came second in the best technical innovation category for its Wintermallows pointed bag.
Jack van der Heiden, CFP Harlingen sales and marketing director, said, “We are delighted to have won this award in recognition of the excellent results we have achieved for Bofrost.
“Flextreme represents a new generation in flexo printing that offers print quality comparable with gravure printing but at a much more competitive cost. It offers advantages to customers like shorter production runs, reduced lead times and excellent finished results, including very high ink and colour density.
“The packaging was printed using only CMYK with an overall lacquer to achieve a high intensity of colour and excellent quality finish. We achieved this using Sun Passion ink, minimum 54 dpcm screening and 460 line anilox rollers.
The European Flexographic Technical Association is the trade association for the flexographic printing industry in the Benelux countries of Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg. These annual awards honour the best innovations in the market and raise the profile of the industry as a whole.
