Digital printing opens up a perspective, with which all today’s label and packaging printers have to deal. 1)      Expanding flexible packaging and label opportunities

Uteco Group, in partnership with Kodak, has announced the commercial availability of the Sapphire EVO digital press. The use of environmentally friendly water-based inks allows packaging service providers and convert­ers a digital offering particularly for food applications. But most impor­tantly, the press addresses a wide range of low and high-volume applications without compromising on productivity or economics.

 

2)      Digitally printed packaging for out-of-home consumption

Digital print technologies for the manufacturing of packaging for out-of-home consumption are a useful addition to conventional printing process­es. Increasing sales figures for such products together with the trend of replacing cups made of EPS or plastics with fibre based products further supports the use of digital printing. In addition, this flexible process can also provide such packaging with attractive promotional messages

3)      Printed interior decoration: A growing market

The many application possibilities for large format inkjet printing further strengthens the current trend of developing artistically creative and person­alized printed products for interior decoration of individual and commercial environments like offices and hotel rooms. According to a study published by Smithers Pira, the market for industrial printing is a most promising one.

4)      Digital Print for Packaging Europe 2017

In December 2017, the Digital Print for Packaging conference which took place for the third time in Berlin, once more brought together more than 180 packaging experts to learn about the latest developments in digital printing. For many participants, this conference is a fixed date in their event calendar, . The organizer, Smithers Pira, focused on case studies from brand owners and j the latest digital developments in the various packaging seg­ments.
