THE NETHERLANDS • AV Flexologic announced the new semi-automatic mounting machine, Samm Postprint. The machine mounts flexographic printing plates onto plastic film using a patented image recognition software that measures the position of the mounting materials in real time.

BRAZIL • Smurfit Kappa, a paper-based packaging supplier, has acquired Brazilian companies Industria de Embalagens Santana (INPA) and Paema Embalagens for approximately USD 199 million in December 2015.
USA • Montalvo, a web tension control specialist, announced the launch of its latest web tension controller for rewind applications. The controller, called Z4-RL, is designed for rewind tension zones using load cell feedback for tension measurement.

UK • Clifton Packaging purchased a Comexi Proslit S1DT Slitter Rewinder to continue its expansion plans. The machine is already in production at Clifton’s production facility in Leicester, England.

THE NETHERLANDS • Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Harlingen (CFP Harlingen) won the 2015 award for technical innovation at the prestigious EFTA-Benelux Flexo Awards, which took place in Antwerp, Belgium, in November. The company won the award for its unique Flextreme printing technology used to create the packaging for the Bofrost Suppengemüse brand.

USA • SGK, a division of Matthews International Corporation, announced that it has appointed Eric Schultz, vice president of business development for the Americas region.
