USA • The liquid-packaging converter achieved the production of the first fully renewable gabletop-carton package for the US market. Tetra Pak Gable Top Bio-based packages are made solely from renewable materials, defined as natural resources that can be replenished over time. The new cartons are developed from a combination of paperboard and sugar cane-derived plastics.

AUSTRALIA • On a constant currency basis, earnings per share (EPS) was up 10.2%, whereas PAT on a constant currency basis was up 6.6% to USD 342.6 million.
USA • Sonoco reported consolidated financial results for its fourth quarter and full-year 2015. Fourth quarter net sales declined 3.8%, and for 2015 were down 1% from 2014. Sonoco said consumer packaging and protective solutions were its biggest performers that were partially offset by lower results in paper and industrial converted products.
USA • The board of directors of Bemis Company, Inc. has increased the authorization for share repurchases by 20 million additional shares of company stock, supplementing the 2.4 million shares remaining from the previous share repurchase authorization by the board in May 2014 for 8 million shares.
UK • German manufacturer Seufert Transparente Verpackungen announced it will focus its exhibition around the food and beverage market at the Packaging Innovations show at the end of February in Birmingham. The company, which develops and produces transparent folding boxes, sleeves, lids, bases, cartons and thermoformed parts, said its 2016 theme is Gourmet World.

USA • Pamarco will celebrate its 70-year anniversary later this year. Since its formation in July of 1946, Pamarco has evolved to supply printers in many industries products, technical training and support, the company said.
USA • Pamarco and Esterlam collaborated to host a sales and strategy meeting in January in Atlanta. The goal was to connect the management, sales and customer service teams from the companies regions and to provide an opportunity to review sales strategies and future business developments, according to the companies.

THE NETHERLANDS • Clondalkin Flexible Packaging has appointed Tom Kleinschmidt as sales director for confectionary packaging. He will be based at the company’s Rotterdam site and will be responsible for sales and product development of the organisation’s confectionary packaging portfolio.

LUXEMBOURG • Since the beginning of 2016, Flint Group Flexographic Products has equipped its flexographic and letterpress platemaking exposures with high-intensity UV-A lamps. The UV-A output of the high-definition lamps increases by up to 15% compared to standard UV-A 10R lamps, according to the company.

CHINA • The sixth All in Print China will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 18-22 October. More than 400 companies have confirmed their participation. The exhibition area will be more than 80,000 sqm (861,113 sqft) with expected visitor totals reaching 100,000, according to the event organizer.
