ITALY • Digital Flex announced it has purchased the Nyloflex Automated Plate Processor Iris Inliner from Flint Group Flexographic Products. The contract finalizing the machine’s purchase was signed after about six months of beta testing.
USA • PRIMIR, the Print Industries Market Information and Research Organization, the research unit of NPES, announced five new studies to be completed this year as well as a new strategy to provide members with research results faster in a variety of formats.
USA • A new study reported that US demand for food containers is projected to increase 2.8% per year to more than USD 31 billion in 2020.
SWITZERLAND • Bobst Group, a supplier of equipment and services to the packaging and label industries, announced its consolidated sales were EUR 1.2 billion in 2015, an increase of EUR 28.6 million, or +2.4%, compared to 2014. Adjusted for currency effects and acquisitions, organic sales were up 6.8% in 2015.
USA • A new study reports that demand for pouches in the USA will grow 4.4% per year through 2020 to USD 10.1 billion, driven primarily by the introduction of pouch packaging into new markets and the integration of high value features, such as resealable closures and spouts, in more mature markets.
The report said stand-up pouch formats will continue to grow in popularity, since the greatest opportunities lie in previously popular rigid packaging applications
POLAND • Mondi Group has signed an agreement to acquire the SIMET S.A. corrugated plant located in Grabonóg, near Poznań. The plant produces a wide range of flexo printed packaging including American cases, die-cut and multipoint folder-glued boxes. The acquisition is subject to Polish competition clearance and other customary conditions.
USA • MacDermid Printing Solutions announced it launched a new brand image as well as created a new organizational structure within the company. MacDermid Printing Solutions now becomes part of MacDermid Performance Solutions and will be renamed MacDermid Graphics Solutions to more accurately reflect its core business.
USA • A new company, Epac has been launched to focus on the growing short-run, multiple SKU, quick-turn flexible packaging market. A joint partnership between Arion Partners and Emerald Packaging, the company announced it would begin operations in Madison, Wisconsin in April.
POLAND • Lesko Engineering company announced its flexography industry solutions are available in all countries under the Lesko Engineering brand name. The company announced expansion of its global sales network based on authorized dealers operating in particular markets. It said that all contracts with present customers, as well as orders being already completed, remain in force.
GERMANY • Erhardt+Leimer held its annual conference on 22 January at the Chamber of Commerce and Trade in Augsburg and announced it has experienced steady growth since 2009. The company reported a turnover of about EUR 160 million in 2015, representing growth of 10%.

UK • Unilever announced it sends no non-hazardous waste to landfills across more than 600 sites, in 70 countries, including factories, warehouses, distribution centres and offices. Unilever said it aims to achieve zero waste across the value chain, which has provided a strong business case for sustainability.
USA • On the heels of American Roller Company’s early January announcement of acquiring Nordson’s Xaloy DuraShell and EquaTherm chill roll product lines, the company announced the acquisition of C.R.E.W located in Oshkosh, WI, a manufacturer of custom rollers and custom converting equipment. LUXEMBOURG • Flint Group announced it issued a binding offer to Siegwerk Druckfarben to acquire its web offset business. This offer includes the transfer of all technical expertise and product portfolios relating to Siegwerk’s Heatset and Newsink product lines.
LATIN AMERICA • The Flint Group Flexographic Products’ sales team wound down its Latin American roadshow to promote its new flexo printing plate, nyloflex FTF Digital, in December 2015.
