ITALY • Following extensive demonstrations of the Sapphire digital package printing press at drupa 2016, with Kodak’s technical support, Uteco will launch the new Sapphire EVO press in the Spring of 2017.
The knowledge and experience gained by Uteco through this partnership has enabled the integration of Kodak’s “Continuous InkJet” digital printing technology into the Sapphire EVO. Both companies have decided to extend the partnership and work jointly on future printing and laminating projects.
The announcement was made following Uteco’s Digital Days held at the company’s headquarters in Colognola ai Colli outside Verona on the 29 and 30 of November. Uteco plans to roll out the new Sapphire EVO when the prototype is put into operation at the company’s ConverDrome technological center for research and development in the first half of the new year.
Able to run up to 250 m/min (820 fpm) and offering a print width of up to 1200 mm (47”), the new Sapphire EVO digital package printing press combines the familiar quality of analog printing with the flexibility of digital technology. Using water based inks, the Sapphire EVO also has the ability to insert inline units for coating and lamination.
