SPAIN • Since their corporate alliance began in 2005, the global group has purchased and installed several laminators and slitters throughout its production facilities. Three of the new S1 DTs will be integrated with the other Comexi slitters in Wipak’s Walsrode, Germany plant as part of a push towards complete automation in its slitting section. The fourth slitter will be installed in the Wipak Group plant in Poland where it will join other similar units.
“The slitters are completely automatic and dedicated to the conversion of flexible laminates and semi rigid materials such as the ones used for food packaging,” explains Comexi’s key account manager, Agustí Combis.
The Comexi S1 DT is a double turret slitting machine with regulating and control elements that provides the opportunity for high production rates towards many output reels, such as those intended for the labels market. It also handles thicker structures, aluminums, or non-woven materials. Additionally, the slitter allows for an actual reading of the tension since it has independent motors for each turret. Centrally located PC touch panels help set the machine’s pace while storing production data. The S1 DT can be adapted to each client’s need with several automation options such as automated reel unloading, splicing tables, and print mark counters along with other controls.
