SPAIN • In December 2016, the Spanish manufacturer of machines and equipment for package printing organized an open house at its headquarters in Ruidellots de la Selva (Girona/Spain). During this event they presented the CI8 EB offset press for the printing of flexible packaging.

UK • According to a new report by the Smithers Pira Group, steady demand in consumer markets will propel the sack and kraft paper industry to grow by around 3% per annum between 2016 and 2021–pushing the global market value to USD 80 billion by 2021, up from USD 66 billion in 2016.

GERMANY • For three days beginning on the 21st of March 2017, CCE International, Europe’s only exhibition exclusively targeted to the corrugated and folding carton industry, will open at the Munich Trade Fair Centre in Germany.
In 2017, CCE International attendees and visitors will be able to meet with more than 150 providers of raw materials, machines, accessories and services who will present them with cutting-edge technologies, manufacturing systems and the latest solutions for the production and conversion of corrugated and carton board.

MAURITIUS & SOUTH AFRICA • Flexofit announced it held its first international Flexofit Seminars in Port Louis, Mauritius and Cape Town, South Africa. Both seminars brought together a range of international speakers with a regional industry expert audience.

USA • Smithers Pira released a new report, The Future of High-Barrier Packaging Films to 2021, that projects global high-barrier packaging film consumption at 1.86 million tonnes in 2016 and is forecast to grow during 2016–21 at an annual rate of 4.6% to 2.33 million tonnes.
ITALY • BG Plast Impianti held an open house from 21 to 25 November at its production plant in Marnate, the company said, during which five lines for the production of cling PVC film, used for food packaging, were exhibited in working condition.
Each plant is able to produce up to 200 Kg/h (441 lb/hr) of stretch PVC film with a variable thickness from 7 up to 20 microns, a width of 1,400 (55.1”) mm and a winding speed up to 100 m/min (328 fpm)

UKRAINE • On 28 October, 3M, in partnership with DuPont Advanced Printing Cyrel and LLC Repro Studio Dialog, Ukraine, arranged an international flexo conference, “Optimization of the technological process at the flexo printing industry: modern technologies, ways to achieve high and precise printing quality”.
The event had more than 100 participants, representatives of flexo printing industry from all regions of Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus, Azerbaijan and Poland
KENYA • Flexofit held its second international Flexofit Seminar in Nairobi, Kenya last month. Last year the first ever Flexofit Africa Seminar also took place in the Ole Sereni Hotel in Nairobi.

THAILAND • Xi’an Aerospace-Huayang Mechanical & Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd (Hy-Flexo) held a seminar and demonstration on corrugated preprinting technology in CCE South East Asia in Bangkok. During the seminar, Hy-Flexo delivered a lecture, focusing on the preprinting process and advantages of preprinting over the traditional corrugated production.
