Many packaging printers consider the idea of investing in digital printing. It is therefore initially helpful when making an investment decision to take a close look at the technologies and current market trends.
The clogging of the cells of laser-engraved ceramic anilox rollers with contaminants and dried ink impairs the printing quality. This means that contaminated rollers need to be cleaned as soon as possible after printing. Different procedures are available for this purpose.

Digital printing technologies are revolutionizing the interior décor business. Not only can these items be produced more rapidly and with less waste than with traditional manufacturing processes, digital printing offers the ability to customize – or even personalize – interior décor.
Electrostatic printing assist (ESA) generally improves print quality, since it helps to eliminate missing dots. But if the press operator has selected the wrong ESA system or uses it incorrectly, it can itself cause problems with gravure printing presses.

The Toyobo Cosmolight water washable flexo plate supports print shops in stabilizing the production process, while also bringing additional benefits. Processed in water with only a small amount of mild detergent, the plate does not absorb water. Therefore, it does not swell, which keeps the plates stable throughout the entire plate making process by providing…

Why do we laminate and why has it, over the years, become such an increasingly important production process? The short answer, perhaps, is that lamination allows for an almost unlimited range of often very dissimilar materials and structures to be economically combined in order that unique performance benefits can be obtained that would be difficult…

Printing ink systems for flexible packaging have undergone major developments over the past decades – now is the time for a review. What is the status quo and what can we expect in the future?
GERMANY • The corrugated pre-print company will convert its entire stock of flexo printing sleeves at its Ilsenburg facility to tesa Twinlock technology. This one-of-a-kind technology allows printing plates to be mounted to cylinders and sleeves without the use of plate mounting tapes.

According to common belief, digital printing hasn’t been successfully used for flexible packaging until recently. The Irish printer Fox Packaging (formerly Foster Packaging) has successfully proved that for years package printing with flexible, film-based substrates has been possible with a digital press.
The newly created Italian Print4All (Milan) trade fair didn’t just gather the most important industry suppliers together but also attracted a surprisingly high number of visitors.
