USA • Pamarco announced its third annual “Printing for a Better Future” event grew again and benefited a number of at-risk kids in Kosovo. Each year, Pamarco employees, their families and friends donate bedding, toys and many other items to children around the world.

THE NETHERLANDS • Smurfit Kappa announced it has entered the record books by making the world’s largest cardboard box. Measuring 40 metres by 20 metres (131 ft x 66 ft), it was designed and manufactured by a team in its van Dam plant.
The box has gone on to be recycled and will be turned into new packaging for one of Smurfit Kappa’s customers in 14 days

GERMANY • The European Rotogravure Association (ERA) has elected Manfred Janoschka of Janoschka Holding as its new president. He succeeds José María Camacho, former CEO of Circleprinters and is the first ERA president to be elected from a cylinder engraving company.

UK • Sun Chemical confirmed the acquisition of Flint Group’s European publication gravure ink business. The acquisition includes the transfer of all products relating to Flint Group’s European publication gravure products.
GERMANY • Inometa was founded in 1981 by Wilfried Tappe and the company announced it is celebrating its evolution into a roller specialist, known for lightweight solutions. For the anniversary occasion, the company invited all of its employees and their families to attend a summer festival.

Belgium • Esko announced that Niels Stenfeldt has expanded his role to vice president EMEA & Global Brand Sales. Effective September 1, Stenfeldt will be assuming the role previously held by Armand Gougay, who is retiring after 27 years at Esko. Niels joined Esko in May responsible for global brand sales.

UK • The global market value of barrier coatings for plastic packaging is projected at USD 1.37 billion in 2016 and is forecast to grow at an annual rate of 5.2% during the five-year period to 2021 to USD 1.76 billion.
DENMARK • As part of its ambitious expansion programme, the inventor of corona and pioneer of surface treatment announced that architects have finished the design of a new building that will effectively double the size of the current headquarters in Kolding. The expansion is due for completion in August 2017.
