USA • The AIMCAL Web Slitting Technology course was held in Charlotte, North Carolina with machine demonstrations at Atlas Converting’s office where attendees got to see the Titan ER610 in action.

Ninety percent of solvent-based lamination adhesives for film lamination are currently applied using gravure printing technology. Application systems using flexo printing technology have very interesting benefits for production, especially in the difficult area of laminating very thin aluminium foil.

USA • DuPont Advanced Printing announced the launch of the newest addition to the DuPont Cyrel Easy plate platform, DuPont Cyrel Easy EPC, a soft digital plate with a built-in flat top dot developed especially for the postprint corrugated printers.
UK • Smithers Pira released a report saying that global pouch packaging consumption is projected at just more than 324 billion units in 2016. It is forecast to grow during the period 2016–2021 at an annual rate of 4.7% to 407 billion units.
PHILLIPINES • Bobst announced that its roadshow in Manila on 24 August provided a good setting and opportunity for Bobst and its partners to present to the Philippines flexible packaging and label manufacturing industry the latest innovations and trends in printing and converting.

CHINA • Siegwerk announced it opened INKube, its new Packaging Ink Solution Center, in Shanghai. The new centre will help the company to expand its local capabilities, competencies and offerings for the Chinese market.

KENYA • HP announced that Kenya-based packaging provider, Digital Packaging Innovations Ltd (DPI), has purchased an HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press, marking the first purchase of this press in the African continent. The installation is set to be completed in late 2016.
