USA • Schawk announced that it has named Randall Peek, vice president, operations and Troy Johnson, vice president, client relationships for its flexographic platemaking team. Effective immediately, both Peek and Johnson will be reporting to Tim Kiel, group managing director, Americas Region at SGK.
USA • Sun Chemical announced it has entered into a partnership with ACPO, Ltd., a coater of flexible films, to meet the demand of brand owners and flexible packaging converters for high barrier transparent packaging. Two different ACPO coated films, polyester and biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP), are available with the oxygen barrier coatings.
USA • Maxcess announced the release of its Tidland Cyclone high-speed centering shaft, which enables faster production through its ability to center and grip cores concentrically about the shaft. The new shaft increases throughput by minimizing roll loping and machine vibration, the company said.
With its single-circuit air system and bladders that can be replaced in less than five minutes, it is designed to minimize downtime both during roll changes and scheduled maintenance
USA • GMG Americas, the US-based office of Germany-based GMG announced that Joe Varone has been promoted to president and Paulo Monteiro to VP sales at GMG Americas.

UK • The Milton Keynes-based ID Machinery Ltd announced it has taken over of Quma Systems, one of the corrugated industry’s supplier of glue systems. Quma systems confirms this move on its website, which announced it would be moving from the south coast to Milton Keynes during the month of August.
USA • Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC) announce that more than 275 people attended its event, Impact 2016 on August 3 at its global headquarters in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The event featured the unveiling of the company’s Fusion C press, which introduced the press with a live curtain drop and allowed interactive demonstrations.

ITALY • Valco Melton, a supplier of adhesive dispensing equipment and quality assurance systems to the converting industries, has acquired Italian-based Ero, S.r.l.
GERMANY • KBA announced that the second quarter of 2016 had strong order figures, revenue and earnings, as well as a successful drupa. Group order intake from April to June was up 17.2% year-on-year, although the EUR 352.5 million only contained about one-third of the orders placed at the trade show.
Group order intake was 1.9% higher than the previous year. Revenue increased over the same period by 29.7% and order backlog rose 7%
USA • API Group announces that it has completed the acquisition of Hazen Paper Company’s Paperboard Lamination facilities and business in Osgood, Indiana. The acquisition will allow API to provide combined foils and laminate offerings globally, the company said.
USA • MacDermid announced it hosted a two-day training for its graphics solutions sales staff with Esko in the company’s headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. The purpose of the meeting was to train its North American sales and technical service teams on Esko’s products.
GERMANY • At drupa, Kodak shared new technologies that offer a practical solution to this challenge: The wide variety of substrates and ink types used in flexo printing make it one of the most versatile of all the print processes used in package production, but these can also provide headaches for the plate maker.

USA • Sun Chemical announced it opened a new coatings lab in its New Jersey research and development facility. The 1,022 sqm (11,000 sqft) investment features equipment and analytical support for studying migration, adhesion, permeability and other performance-related coating phenomena.
MEXICO • Grupo Gondi announced it signed a very large deal with Bobst and BHS Corrugated for the supply of eleven new production lines at drupa. The order will see equipment installed at existing Grupo Gondi facilities as well as at green field sites over the next two years.
