USA • Hybrid Software announced record-breaking results from drupa 2016. More than 1,200 visitors from 850 companies visited its stand to see demonstrations of the latest innovations in packaging prepress and to run their own live jobs.

THE NETHERLANDS • Tresu DigitalSolutions, provider of flexo coating systems for digital printing lines, and Apex International, manufacturer of anilox coating and ink technology for packaging and label converting, have formed a global research, development and training partnership.

JAPAN • Futec, an inspection systems provider, and Maxcess, a web-handling industry services provider announced a sales cooperation that will allow both companies to cross-promote each other’s product portfolio to customers in Germany, Austria and Poland. The companies intend to extend the region in the future.

TURKEY • Mondi Group announced the acquisition of Kalenobel, the Turkish flexible packaging manufacturer, for EUR 90 million on a debt-and-cash-free basis (consideration for 90% of the business).
ITALY • The FTA Europe announced a new project that brings together international cross-industry expertise to provide a best practice reference for printers and suppliers to improve flexo performance. The project’s first meeting will be in Milan on 13-14 September.
UK • Troika Systems said it has achieved more than EUR 117 million of realistic new sales revenue throughout the coming year. During the two-week exhibition, the company said it developed more than 360 new business leads and orders while it unveiled two new technologies.

The UK has a vibrant print history, starting with William Caxton bringing the printing press to England in 1476. Another William got into the printing industry a few hundred years later and started a company that would share a part of that history for more than 160 years.

ITALY • Omet announced it has sold five Varyflex V2 machines — 670 mm wide (26.3”) — a printing press for flexible packaging designed to combine a range of printing and finishing technologies.

FRANCE • Pierre Chevreux, founder-president of Recyl SAS, France and shareholders announced that they completed the sale of Recyl to O&CG Holding SAS, owned by Charlotte and Olivier Goualard, effective the beginning of last month.

GERMANY • Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA) announced the takeover of Iberica AG S.A. in Spain that was announced on 23 May was completed with the signing of the purchase agreement by Officine Meccaniche G. Cerutti S.p.A. (OMGC) from Italy.

USA • Pamarco announced it worked with Applied Laser Engineering to install a new laser in Atlanta. The new equipment is equipped with the latest hardware and software technology to produce a range of engraving configurations from 35 to 1,500 lines per inch and more.
