GERMANY • K. Walter announced its updated CuMax, the CuMax GII. Research and development of galvanic systems is one of the company’s priorities, and the CuMax procedure has exemplified this focus, the company said. Existing CuMax sytems can be upgraded.

GERMANY • Troika Systems (Hall 10, Stand C13-4) said it will unveil two new technologies at drupa: Corrucam, a tool that is able to measure aniloxes within corrugated presses, and the Advanced Inspection Microscope (AIM), a 2D microscope that can work with different applications.

USA • Michelman announced it will display its line of primers for use with HP Indigo digital presses for labels and packaging at Dscoop North America Conference held April 14-16 in San Antonio, Texas (Booth 351).
GERMANY • Ohio Gravure Technologies announced it will complement its Spectrum engravers with a new Spectrum Compact model to be shown at drupa (Hall 16, Stand D10). The company offers a range of engraving machines, from its entry-level Prism engraver to the Spectrum Large Format for special large-format applications.

SWITZERLAND • Bobst Group and WIFAG-Polytype Group have entered into exclusive negotiations regarding a potential acquisition of WIFAG-Polytype’s coating technology business. The proposed transaction is subject to the parties reaching a definitive agreement, with the closing of the transaction expected to occur at the end of the second quarter of 2016.
SWEDEN • ÅR Packaging Group of Lund, and Egem Ambalaj Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş, Izmir Turkey, have signed a partnership agreement. The objective is to establish a cooperation in Turkey for the manufacture, purchasing, sale and marketing for packaging made out of cardboard or other materials.

GERMANY • Hell Gravure Systems said its XtremeEngraving system has opened up a new field of application – engraving coarse screens on transfer rollers to enable white background printing. Under certain conditions, one white cylinder is all that’s necessary with the system. Conventional engraving, however, usually requires two printing cylinders.

GERMANY • KBA-Flexotecnica said it will be showcasing its new CI flexo Neo XD LR Hybrid at drupa at the 3,000 sqm (32,292 sqft) KBA stand (Hall 16, Stand C47-1). It is engineered for printing with solvent and water-based inks as well as curing ink systems, such as LED-UV and EB.

GERMANY • Grafikontrol will introduce its platform Total Quality Control at 360° (TQC-360) at drupa (Hall 15, Stand A11). Its TQC-360 platform is a modular platform developed to provide printers with a solution to guarantee quality.
DENMARK • Tresu Group introduced its MaxiPrint Concept, a carbon-fibre or ceramic chamber that comprises a chamber doctor blade, inking system and cleaning system. Suited for wide web and corrugated flexo applications, the company says it offers corrosion-resistance; fast, automatic internal cleaning; improved quality consistency; and reduced ink loss.
The ink change and cleaning cycle is typically completed within approximately five minutes with its system, Tresu said
TURKEY • Heliograph’s competence in rotogravure cylinder production is prized globally, the company said, and it cites Turkish Bakioglu Holding as an example, which has seven installed HelioKlischograph K500 engraving output devices. With 11 locations, it’s Turkey’s leading corporate group of companies for the production of flexible packaging.

SWEDEN • Marvaco Oy announced it acquiried the operations of Kostym Designindustries AB, which specialise in packaging artwork design and operate in Central Sweden. Kostym, operating in Karlstad, has consumer goods experience and high-level technological knowledge, the company said.
