GERMANY • Goebel Schneid- und Wickelsysteme GmbH, part of the Italian IMS Deltamatic Group, appointed three managing directors to lead the slitter rewinder and winding machine supplier. The former managing director Andreas Hollmann left the company consensually.

FINLAND • Sung An Machinery Co., Ltd (SAM), a converting, extrusion and printing machinery manufacturer based in Seoul, Korea, has signed a contract for an exclusive partnership with Joniko Oy based in Masala, for sales in Finland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.

NEW ZEALAND • The 2016 “Pride In Print Awards” has extended its deadline to 29 February, with the regular entries’ deadline having closed on 31 January.

CANADA • TC Transcontinental, Canada’s largest printer, added a new Titan SR800 slitter rewinder to its fleet of slitter rewinders operating within its TC Transcontinental Packaging division.

UK • Troika Systems launched its Surface Cam Calibration Program (SCP), a calibration system for its two applications used by coating and embossing converters.
The calibration system ensures users of low screen material that the depth and volume of the embossing or coating cylinders are correctly measured, Troika said.
USA • Flint Group announced the acquisition of Advanced Color Systems, Inc. (ACS) located in Tualatin, Oregon. ACS manufactures and distributes water-based inks within the US and also exports to some countries outside of North America.
USA • Flexographic Technical Association’s (FTA) will host a forum on 8 March co-located with the Infoflex Exhibition at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Texas. It will seek to answer several questions, including how rapid advances in digital printing technologies are driving the flexographic industry into a new frontier.
AUSTRIA • The International Label Conference, scheduled for 16 March in Zell am See, announced one of its speakers will introduce Actinpak, a European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) programme to identify and focus on key technical, social, economic and legislative factors to successfully deploy renewable fibre-based packaging solutions.
USA • During FTA’s Infoflex event in March in Texas, Sun Chemical plans to show how several of its inks, coatings and HD plates increase pressroom efficiency by coming to colour faster at higher press speeds as well as produce attractive packaging.
RUSSIA • Italian printing and packaging companies participated in the Upakovka-Upak Italia on 26-29 January. Difficulties in the Russian market did not discourage the participation, which was organized by CPA SPA.
USA • ITW Pillar Technologies, a surface treatment and induction cap sealing systems manufacturer, announced the launch of the industry’s first onboard maintenance indicator for its corona treatment systems.
AUSTRALIA • Amcor announced the appointment of Roelof Westerbeek as president of Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific. Westerbeek will begin his new role on 15 March and will be based in Singapore.

CHINA • Amcor announced an agreement to acquire BPI China, a subsidiary of UK-based British Polythene Industries PLC for USD 13 million. BPI China has one plant in Xinhui, South China, with blown film and flexographic printing lines, that produces flexible packaging products.
USA • Pamarco announced the appointment of James Chesley as technical sales engineer for the Pacific Northwest. Pamarco hopes his 22 years of experience in flexo printing and package printing related industries, previously with Econo Products and Anderson & Vreeland, will help continue the company’s expansion in the region.

MEXICO • Less than one year after agreeing upon a seven-machine deal for its new greenfield site in Nava, Grupo Gondi has placed another large order for Bobst printing and conversion equipment as well as for upgrades to existing equipment.
