According to a Smithers Pira report (Future of Global Flexible Packaging to 2020), the global market for flexible packaging is projected to grow by 18% through 2020.

USA • SGK, a division of Matthews International announced that it has rebranded the Matthews Brand Solutions flexographic business in Europe, Asia and the Americas as Schawk.
AUSTRIA • Alexander Baumgartner has assumed his role as Chief Executive Officer of flexible packaging company Constantia Flexibles as of 1 October 2015. He succeeds Thomas Unger, who had led the Group as CEO since 2011.

USA • Barry-Wehmiller Companies, Inc. has executed a definitive agreement to acquire the operations of Winkler+Dünnebier GmbH, including POEM (W+D). The acquisition includes W+D’s operations in Neuwied and Löhne, Germany, along with the U.S. subsidiary, W+D North America, and the Malaysian subsidiary, W+D Asia Pacific.
In general, package printing jobs are becoming shorter and shorter. Hence many printers struggle to produce in an economic way. GERMANY • KBA-Flexotecnica has commissioned a flexo press for carton board printing at Delta Print & Packaging in Northern Ireland. According to KBA, the “EVO XG CI” flexo press is engineered for printing speeds of up to 600 m/min (1,969 ft/min) and printing with water-based inks on paper and board up to 450 g/m² (290 lbs).
