GERMANY • Around 260,000 visitors from 188 countries and approximately 1,900 journalists from 74 countries travelled to Düsseldorf to visit drupa. They came to learn about technological innovations, further developments and new business lines from the 1,837 exhibitors from 54 countries. According to a survey done by Messe Düsseldorf, approximately 75% of all visitors were executives and deciders in terms of capital expenditure in their companies.
Other information the trade show provided from the survey:
• 54% of visitors came to drupa 2016 with concrete investment intentions
• 29% placed orders during drupa
• 30% are planning to place their orders after drupa
• 60% found new suppliers at drupa
While visitor attendance was down 17% from 2012 (314,248 attendees), part of this can be explained by the fact that the show was three days shorter as well as, according to Messe Düsseldorf, the consolidation of the industry.
The numbers also represent a much larger international population than before. The percentage of international visitors, totalling 76%, is up 16% from four years ago. Asian visitors accounted for the largest portion of this: 17% of international visitors came from this continent (2012: 13.6%). The European countries with the largest visitor count were Italy, France, the Netherlands and the UK.
As announced at the midpoint of drupa, the event will stick to its four-year cycle with the next fair to be held from 23 June to 3 July 2020.
