GERMANY • GMG announced it is planning to offer Opencolor colour separation technology within Hybrid Software’s Packz label and packaging editor and workflow. Visitors at drupa will see how the multichannel profiling software fits within Packz, an prepress editor that works entirely in the native PDF environment. GMG is located at Hall 8A, Stand B10, and Hybrid Software is at Hall 7A, Stand F41.
The integration will allow Packz to use the colour conversion within its PDF editor to assure the accurate transformations, the company said. This is particularly useful if the number of ink units are changed or if the printer wants consistent representation of its brand colours. It is also possible to use any Opencolor proofing profile to create a separation profile directly into the PDF editor. The benefit is that only one set of accurate fingerprint characterization data is required, the company said. For example, if a designer sends a 12-colour job that will be transformed to an extended colour gamut job, the output conversion will be created directly from the supplied GMG profile. Packz has ability to colour convert the entire file — or object by object or individual colours.
