Hell Gravure reveals three new machines at drupa
GERMANY • Hell Gravure Systems will be unveiling two engravers and one direct laser system for gravure and flexographic printing under the motto “High performance and high quality” at drupa 2016.
The company will be premiering the Premiumsetter S3000. According to the Hell, it is the world’s fastest direct laser for flexographic printing. Using up to four laser sources with a total output of 2400 W, the laser shall achieve double the existing performance level. The working width of more than 3 m for elastomeric flexo printing forms extends the benefits of high-resolution direct engraving to large printing widths. The S3000 is also available with a choice of one or two laser sources if necessary. A subsequent upgrade can be implemented.
Moreover, Hell reveals two new engravers for gravure applications involving large working widths such as decorative printing: The K5000 Twin and the K5 Smart XXL. The new long engraver K5000 Twin makes it possible to engrave decorative cylinders over 6 m wide using the Celleye calibration process. According to the company, Celleye is based on volume-oriented measurement of engraved cells and achieves a good repeat accuracy for gravure cylinders. Due to the extra-long bed, two cylinders each over 3 m long can also be engraved using Twin operating mode, which represents double the performance capacity of conventional machines. Equipped with the 8 kHz Heliosprint engraving system, the unit is designed to support the faster Heliosprint III (12 kHz) and future new developments in this field.
The K5 Smart XXL is based on the K5 Smart with a larger working width. Designed for the export market and equipped with a Heliosprint 8 kHz engraving system, this solution can engrave cylinders over 4 m wide via Celleye calibration.
In addition, the Cellaxy C500 direct laser for gravure and embossing applications is being exhibited with two new performance packages. Hell argues that the retrofittable high-performance package is 60 to 80% more productive than the standard machine. On the other hand, a dual-beam version with two 600 W laser sources for double the performance has been launched to coincide with drupa. As a result of combining these two packages, the C500 2S shall be the world’s fastest direct laser in gravure printing.
