Martin Automatic – Demonstrations at drupa
GERMANY • The American manufacturer of splicing and web handling technology will be exhibiting its products at drupa. It plans to demonstrate its systems in Hall 3, Stand D53, including a new web transport technology called Airnertia. The patented roller technology uses an air bearing system to minimise roller inertia. Its Magnetic Driven Roller technology is used in web transport rollers to reduce or eliminate the effects of roller mass, bearing friction, speed changes and boundary layer air. According to the company, this enables higher process speed, lower web tension and reduced equipment size.
Martin will also be showing its TMSL automatic splicer. This free-standing system includes two roll unwind positions, a splice unit and festoon (accumulator) for continuous feed of narrow web materials such as film, non-wovens and foam. According to the company, the TMSL can unwind level-wound (spooled) or pancake rolls and make overlap or butt splices in taped or tapeless designs.
Martin’s new hot melt glue feed system on display automatically dispenses adhesive and refills the applicator reservoir with glue pellets. Designed for splicing fibreglass mat in roofing manufacturing, it can be incorporated into new Martin MTL automatic splicers.
